What We Carried Home: Lessons From Our Boracay Relationship Building Retreat

Our 2026 Ripple VAs Relationship Building Retreat in Boracay was more than just a break from work. From August 3 to 7, leaders gathered under the theme “Building Kingdom Together: From Partnership to Brotherhood & Sisterhood.” This retreat created intentional space for us to step away from daily tasks and simply be present—with God and with each other.

This post shares the key lessons we brought home from those days by the sea. These insights go beyond leadership theory. They come from real conversations, shared moments, and quiet reflections that shaped how we see leadership and community.

Leadership Begins with Relationship

One of the clearest reminders from our time in Boracay is that leadership starts with relationship. Titles and roles matter less than the person behind them. Every leader carries a story filled with struggles, dreams, and faith.

During the retreat, we shared meals, prayed together, and had conversations that went beyond work. These moments revealed the human side of leadership. For example, one leader opened up about challenges balancing family and work, which sparked honest discussions about support and understanding.

This taught us that knowing each other deeply builds a foundation for trust and collaboration. Leadership is not just about directing others but walking alongside them.
